HDX launch in Nairobi

The HDX data Lab in Nairobi is being launched! The Event is happening on Tuesday 11 th November fro 4 .00 PM Kenyan Time  at the mFieldwork offices in Westlands.  The group has organized a networking event on medium data and humanitarian response in East Africa hosted by mFieldwork and OCHA HDX.   

There is a lot of talk about big data, but few humanitarian organizations have data with this variety, velocity and quantity.    Humanitarian organizations are learning to leverage their medium data (assessments, registrations, baselines, etc) for greater insight, impact and accountability.    The HDX Group has invited a number of humanitarian innovators, prepared interesting presentations looks forward to illuminating discussion and networking.

In the event, more will be presented on new initiatives at mFieldwork, and learning more about Shalini Guduri and Peter Hailey’s work on nutrition data visualization.  

HDX is a new platform to connect, share and analyse humanitarian data, a project by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The HDX group has opened a  Data Lab in Nairobi to provide data services to humanitarian partners.  

mFieldwork is a social enterprise helping organizations transition from paper based data collection to digital data collection and achieve greater real-time insight into project implementation.

Shalini Guduri is a Nutrition M&E Officer at Unicef and Peter Hailey is the Director at the Centre for Humanitarian Change.
